Our work

overview | catalogue | documentation | in development

We are currently working with art salon À Rebours to develop performances in response to the work of photographer Charles Gatewood. For the last 40 years Gatewood has faithfully and lovingly documented American sub-cultures - from legendary Beats William Burroughs and Allen Ginsberg, through the excesses of Mardi Gras and naturist gatherings, to the sex radicals and body-modders of the West Coast. His work is radical, inherently performative and utterly exhilirating.

Switch are developing a series of performed interventions which will take place in and beyond the gallery during the exhibition. Exploring reconstruction as an approach we presented work-in-progress at an invitation-only event in May. The results were documented by regular collaborators Topper & Smith.
